Designing a wrap
A mug print is a flat rectangle wrapped around a cylinder. The two ends meet at a seam, usually behind the handle, and the handle hides part of the design. We plan where the main art sits for the person drinking and for the person looking across the table, and we keep text away from the seam.
Left and right hands
A design placed on one side faces the viewer when a right-handed person holds the mug and faces the drinker when a left-handed person does. Many sellers print the art on both sides for that reason. We show you both views on the mockups before you decide.
Tumblers and bottles
Tapered tumblers and bottles distort a flat design, because the top and bottom have different circumferences. Platforms provide warped templates for these products, and we build the art on them so straight lines stay straight.
Files you get
A print file for each mug or bottle size on the platform's template, plus flat previews and mockups for your listing.
Questions
Can the design go all the way around?
Yes. Full wraps work well for patterns. We match the pattern at the seam so the join is hard to spot.
Do colors print the same on mugs as on shirts?
Not always. Mug printing can shift colors slightly. If color matters, order a sample before you launch.
